1. What are the potential benefits, risks and limitations of online clinical psychological consultation?
Potential benefits: as effective as traditional face-to-face psychological consultation ; more affordable ; save time and energy ; client can choose freely where to receive the online service ; and easier to talk over personal issues during online consultation.
Potential risks and limitations: cyber security risks; unsuitable for clients who are in crisis; and legal system constraints.
2. What is the difference between clinical psychological consultation and clinical psychological supervision?
Our clinical psychological consultation aims at providing psychological services to individual adults who have psychological distress.
Our clinical psychological supervision aims at providing clinical advices to allied health professionals such as social workers, junior counsellors or junior clinical psychologists, who have consultation questions over complicated clinical cases.
3. Does online clinical psychological consultations fit all users?
Due to the limitations of online clinical psychological consultation services, such services do not deem fit to clients with self-harming tendency; plan to commit suicide; plan to inflict physical injuries to third parties; severe depression; or psychotic disorders.
4. Will you disclose my data and shared information to other people?
We undertake to maintain strict confidentiality about client’s information which has been acquired during the online clinical psychological services, unless the client’s expressed permission to release the information has been received. Of importance, please note that there is a limitation to confidentiality. An example of the exception: to prevent serious physical harm to client or third parties. We will discuss with clients before the delivery of the services.
5. Can I record the online clinical psychological appointment?
Recording (both video and/or audio) our online video clinical psychological services is strictly forbidden.
6. How much does it cost?
- Standard online consultation: HKD1,500 (Euro 175) for 50 minutes approximately. If you are now facing some financial difficulties, please share with us during booking. Consultation fee is adjustable.
- CARE SERVICES : HKD350 (Euro 40) for 50 minutes approximately. This service is only available to client who is now receiving active cancer treatment; diagnosed with rare diseases, or parents/caregivers of patients with rare diseases.
- Online video clinical psychological supervision : each session lasts for 50 minutes approximately. Standard fee: HKD2,000.
7. How to re-schedule online clinical psychological appointment ? Any additional administrative charge will be incurred?
For any change of appointment, clients shall write to us via email. We will then finalize with clients about the further details.
No extra administrative fee will be incurred as long as the written notification by email is sent to us at least 24 hours before the original appointment.
8. How to cancel an online clinical psychological appointment? Can I get refund?
For any cancellation of appointment, clients shall write to us via email.
No extra administrative fee will be incurred as long as the written notification of cancellation by email is sent to us at least 24 hours before the original appointment. Moreover, we will refund the paid amount to the client within 30 days should the aforesaid 24 hours email prior notification requirement is fulfilled.
9. What is the difference between first consultation and follow-up session?
First consultation
Generally speaking, clinical psychologist would try to understand your emotional distress and its causes. Discussions would include the following areas :
- your present emotional distress ;
- the inconvenience and implications to your current daily life ;
- your brought up background ;
- your current family conditions ; and
- psychiatric and psychological backgrounds of you and your family members.
Towards the end of the first consultation, clinical psychologist would base on the available information, briefly analyze and explain your current psychological conditions to you. Moreover, she would suggest the appropriate psychological treatment option(s) for your reference.
Follow-up sessions
During the follow-up sessions, in-depth psychological consultations would be covered.
Clinical psychologist would discuss each psychological consultation in detail. Also, ways in how to face and handle client's' challenges would be covered.
10. How many follow-up session are required?
That depends - as each client is unique.
Suggested follow-up frequency and duration would be varied.
Generally speaking
The most effective follow-up frequency is once a week. Follow-up duration would be around 6 to 10 weeks, dependent on each client's situation.
Chronic stress
For clients who are facing chronic stress, e.g. chronic illness, cancer or caregivers stress, a long term follow-up would deem more appropriate. In the beginning, we would suggest these clients to meet us weekly. When their psychological conditions turn more stable, we would suggest to distance the follow-up to once every 3-4 weeks.
